A. Tad Brooks |
|
|
Tad's
life in the sport of dogs began back in the mid-1970s when he
was traveling with Pat Fendley (a breeder of Alaskan Malamutes)
to shows and learning about the sport and about Alaskan
Malamutes. |
|
|
Tad's first
show puppy from Pat was out of her top producing Mal bitch, Ch. Mals-About's Touch of Frost, Sheeta. Sheeta would later become the
top producing Malamute bitch of all time. Luck wasn't with Tad or
his little Mal puppy. She was playing in the yard and broke her
right rear leg, which prevented her from being shown. |
|
|
In 1977 an
opportunity became available for Tad to travel with two well-known
Shih Tzu breeders, Steve Smith and J.D. Basil. Tad was able to show
Shih Tzu and several other toy breeders for Steve and J.D. and
learned a great deal from them. Tad was also fortunate to show for
Camille Lashley on occasion and she, too, taught Tad about toy
breeds such as Poodles and Yorkies. |
 |
|
|
Tad left the
sport of dogs to attend college and begin his career. Tad always
knew that he would return to the sport that he loved. In 1989, Tad
found a Rottweiler bitch that brought him back into the wonderful
world of dogs. Sadie is still living and with us at
Meisterhaus. Sadie didn't turn out to be show quality, but we were
fortunate enough to have several big winners in the Rottweiler ring
including Ch. Kayla's Fly the Flag V Hottenstein, Ch. Von Hottenstein's Quick to Please, and
Ch. Meisterhaus Avant Garde. |
|
|
During Tad's
years in Rottweilers, he came across more wonderful people and two
other great breeds, the Basenji and the Whippet. He has had much
success in the Hound ring also—in both the Basenji ring and the
Whippet ring—and look forward to many more accolades in the coming
years. |

Joseph's experience in dogs started in August 2002. Joseph
anxiously became involved in dogs when he first met Tad. Tad
introduced Joseph to his first show and Joseph has not
looked back since!
The first year that Joseph attended dog shows, he chose not
to step in the ring. Joseph did help Tad with the dogs at
ringside, but for the most part, he was an observer. During
that year, Joseph managed to build incredible relationships
with many people active in the Basenji and Whippet breeds.
Finally, the time arrived for Joseph to enter the ring.
Joseph's first experience in the ring was at shows in
Columbus, Ohio, and things could not have gone
better. Joseph had the pleasure of going into the ring with
(now Ch.) Meisterhaus Politically Correct, "Pistol.” Pistol
was Winner's Dog, Best Of Winners and Best Of Breed that
day. Pistol picked up his third major and Joseph was quite
amazed! From instant, Joseph got the "itch" and wanted to
be at dog shows every weekend.
